March 2015 meeting

Another packed and lively meeting today - the morning whizzed by!

Emile has been busy, she crocheted the blue and grey blanket for Barbara's husband who is not well  and the green blanket for Pat - just because!

Another of Valerie's teddies to join the family, she has lost count of how many she has made now
Valerie has been busy, because, she also showed these socks made as a present for her son using Opal wool

Jayne spun this from the fleece of one of her half bred sheep, it is a beautifully light lace weight and it is destined for the dye pot next month
Hilda knitted this teddy with some of her hand spun wool - he is now bound for Liverpool, Australia as a gift for her new baby grandson, Levi-ahh

I recently had my hair coloured and there was some of the mixed dye left over, in true fibreholic fashion I asked my lovely hairdresser to bag up the left overs and dyed this skein and some merino roving. I painted the dye on, wrapped in black plastic and left to 'cook' for two days in the greenhouse! My hairdresser doesn't think I am mad, she knows I am!
Some of the Homebush Romney spun by Valerie in the grease with a staple from the same fleece. Excitement is building for the fleece to wear challenge to be held at the Hororata Highand Games in November and today Valerie made a start with our training.
Still need to come up with a catchy name for the event - any ideas?

And finally, we wanted to join the campaign to create poppies for ANZAC day- for us, of course that meant using fibre. Here is our beautiful collection of poppies - well done ladies
And here is the completed wreath to be presented on April 25th. I think it has turned out wonderfully, a truly fitting contribution - I  hope you all agree
